New year, new you, new skin

While you’re making (and trying to stick to) your 2020 resolutions, why not add in some skincare resolutions that will help you keep your skin in tip-top shape this year.

Here are my 5 top tips for optimum skin health:

1.     Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

A hydrated skin is a happy skin. All of the organs in your body need proper hydration in order to work optimally. The same goes for your skin. Hydration improves the skin’s elasticity and makes it appear more plump and supple.

2.     Maintain a healthy, balanced, nutritious diet

What you put in is what you get out. You body needs certain vitamins and minerals to function, and so does your skin. Eating a healthy balanced diet which includes loads of fresh fruits and veggies will ensure that your skin has all it needs to help you look your best.

3.     Moisturise!

Always keep a good moisturiser on hand. This will help combat fine lines and wrinkles, and will prevent your skin from becoming flaky. Match your moisturiser to your skin type for best results.

4.     Use high quality products with proven results

When using cleansers, toners, and moisturisers, as well as other skincare products, make sure you are using high-quality products that are proven to work. Check with a skincare specialist to see which products are ‘essentials’ and which ones you can do without.

5.     Always use sunblock

Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays is just as important as keeping it moisturised. The sun can cause the skin to show the signs of premature aging including fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. It can also induce hyperpigmentation.
